“Geneviève de Brabant”, music by Eric Satie, directed by Marc Diamond, with set design by Greg Snider. Adaptation by M. LaBaguette and G. L’Echalotte. Orchestration by Rudolph Komorous, conducted by Owen Underhill, with lighting by John Macfarlane.
“Geneviève de Brabant”, an opera in 3 acts, was premiered during an evening of Satie’s music, dance and opera organized by artistic contributors from SFU’s Centre for the Arts. The set consisted of 12 large square and rectangular boxes in three sizes, which were rearranged by performers between acts to represent House, Warehouse and Street. A rolling 16-foot-high Chorus Scaffold for 9 singers on 3 levels appears during the first and third acts.
