truck inner tubes
1977

Three rows of inflated truck inner tubes cross the gallery, pressing out against the walls. The first row is at eye level, the next at arms-reach and the last along the floor. An illusion of sideways pressure shifts the apparent shape of the space towards square, from its actual deep narrowness.

A site-specific installation in Willard Holmes’ Pender Street Gallery, Vancouver BC, in January 1977.
