Queen's Piece uses assembly techniques of timber construction abstracted from industrial buildings, coastal railroad trestles and marine shipping piers, held together with galvanized bolts, chains and turnbuckles. Two identical triangular trusses are pulled together in tension at a central notched joint, producing a rotationally symmetric formal object. Resonances of traditional fabrication methods are combined with the outstanding structural properties of Douglas Fir as a building material.

This work is installed in front of the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria on Moss Street in Victoria, BC.
