Three identical balks of timber are notched and fitted to form an asymmetrical tripod, from which is slung a fourth on chains, floating at a horizontal. An adjustable chain allows the horizontal to be tuned to level when the tripod rest on uneven ground, and no horizon is visible.

This work was made for Jack Kidder and George Forbes of Victoria, BC, in exchange for their generous offer to provide a trip to New York, on the occasion of the Whitney Museum's retrospective exhibition of the work of Marc di Suvero.

Installed in front of the Visual Arts Building at the University of Victoria, Victoria, BC.
